Bringing Back the Joy of Christmas: Twelve Days of Thankfulness

Day 4

Today was such a busy day that I felt like I met myself coming or going in the hallway more than once. On top of that, I am catching a cold, so I don’t feel the best.  Honestly, I wanted to skip this thankfulness commitment and just go to bed.  Just trying to keep it real with you.  But instead, I decided to really think back over the day and try to find the good.  Again, I was convicted at how many good things happened that I was overlooking.  A special friend brought doughnuts to the office where I work this morning, they were fabulous with a cup of coffee. But what was even better than how they tasted was how her thoughtfulness made me feel.  I received an early Christmas gift from a special friend that shares a cup of coffee with me most days.  Such a sweet, unexpected gesture.  Makes me smile thinking about it.  And when I got home from work my husband had lit some of my favorite candles and the house smelled of cinnamon and spices.  The tree lights were on and the house was dry and warm; the exact opposite of outside. Just what my sagging soul needed.  Turns out today was a pretty good day.  I guess I just needed to change my perspective.

So, today may not have been amazing, there were still plenty of things to be thankful for.  Oh, and dark chocolate covered pretzels are pretty amazing too.  You can get them at Wal-Mart.  You’re welcome.
