The picture today is my gym inspiration and oldest son.
This morning, I woke up NOT in the mood to go to the gym or do anything really.
I gave myself multiple excuses, which sounded like good reasons, to stay home and, I don’t know, not do anything hard. Drinking coffee and sitting on the couch while watching birds out the window, sounded SO GOOD. But, before I allowed the idea to get too much traction, more than I could say no to, I reminded myself of my goals.
I heard a podcast recently with a quote that won’t leave me alone. “A hard decision now makes for an easier life later.” Ugh” I thought as I changed into gym clothes. “Why does that have to be SO TRUE?!?
I reluctantly drove to the gym and went to class.
You know what?
It wasn’t long until working really hard for something felt REALLY GOOD! Such a change from minutes earlier in the parking lot when I wanted to run and not look back. Once I was finished, I felt so empowered; physically I was exhausted, but mentally I felt so lifted.
I had done it,
DID IT!
The hard thing was behind me and I found myself ready to face the day with renewed mental strength.
Whatever it is that you want to let yourself off the hook for today, don’t do it.
Do the hard thing.
You won’t regret it.
